Long Time Coming

After a long hiatus, I have added more, make that lots more, travel pictures!  In brief, I have added eight new albums in addition to the Kenlake and Lake Barkley albums many of you have already viewed. Added are albums of Hilton Head, Sea Island Wildlife, Savannah, and Fort Pulaski, all from our stay on Hilton Head over New Year's in 2007.  Further, I added a large album from Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill, Kentucky, where we stayed over Memorial Day Weekend in 2007.  I also added an album comprised of photos taken during two day trips to Piqua, Ohio.  Finally, there are two albums of photos from our 4th of July getaway to Lake Erie: Put-in-Bay and Fallen Timbers/Fort Meigs/Marblehead.  All totalled, I count about 520 photographs!  As you will quickly surmise, this blog is all about sharing our travel photos, with minimal commentary.  Occasionally we take pictures of each other, but I am notorious for excluding humans from my work.  Hope you enjoy the scenery!  One final note: if you are interested in viewing my short video of the 4th of July re-enactment at Fort Meigs, simply click on this link and hit the play button: http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docid=-490015678846741998&hl=en&fs=true

Pics Added

Since yesterday afternoon I have added 50 more pics to the Kenlake slideshow, plus 75 more in a new slideshow from our trip to Lake Barkley a year ago!  Total is now 100 in the first show, all with captions, which is only about a third of the number taken.  A very few of these were taken last year (batteries at Donelson, for example), but fit the theme.  We returned to Donelson this year, but we did not take any new pics of the shore batteries.  I did con Dana into taking the pic of the lone 12-pounder Napoleon, saying that I had almost no pics of Civil War era cannons.  Ha!  We had a good laugh about that one.  Anyway, enjoy!

Back From Vacation

Hi all,

Please enjoy these pics from our vacation to Land Between the Lakes, on the western Kentucky/Tennessee border.  We stayed in a cottage at Kenlake State Resort Park.  In addition to the local sightseeing, we visited Paducah, Kentucky, and Cairo, Illinois, at the confluence of the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers. For full view, including captions, click Slideshow/Full View.
